Episode 81 - Jeremy Taubman
Jeremy Taubman has never fit neatly into one category. He’s a university professor, published author, professional motorcycle racer, nonprofit co-founder—and a man who has spent more than two decades in recovery.
His relationship with motorcycles began when, as a teenager, he wrote a research paper to convince his risk-averse father that riding could be safe. That first attempt didn’t last long, but the connection did. Years later, after addiction had cost him nearly everything, motorcycles helped Jeremy rediscover community, purpose, and a part of himself he thought he had lost.
Track days eventually led to club racing, championship podiums, an F50 title, and competition in MotoAmerica’s Super Hooligan National Championship. But somewhere along the way, Jeremy realized racing could be about more than results.
Through Remix Racing Project, Jeremy and his fiancée have turned the racetrack into a platform for honest conversations about addiction, mental health, trauma, and recovery. That mission has since grown into Remix Recovery, a nonprofit working to fight stigma, create “brave spaces,” connect people with resources, and improve access to treatment.
In this episode of Driven to Ride, Jeremy talks about the unlikely road from addiction to professional racing, the community that helped him rebuild his life, and what it means to race for something much bigger than a trophy.
